Stewart International Travel was established in 1984 with the conviction that travel opens minds and engenders tolerance. This belief was initially reinforced by our first “corporate” client, IPPNW (International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War) and continues to be affirmed by the many individuals and organizations that we have served over the years.

In the current environment of consolidation, Stewart International remains an independent, woman-owned, SDO-certified business. We have also maintained our commitment to providing personalized travel arrangements consistent with the individual needs, preferences and budgets of our clients.

At Stewart International we utilize the latest technology to access information, guarantee best rates, and generate documentation, but it is the people that make the difference. While our professional/technological expertise is state of the art, we are distinguished by our background in international fare construction and our knowledge of developing world destinations.

Our professional experience averages over twenty-five years each and our travels have taken us to well over one-hundred countries, including most parts of the United States.

Christine Stewart, President

Christine Stewart’s travels began when she spent a semester studying at London’s School of Economics. After graduating from Drew University, she returned to Europe where she lived in The Netherlands for two years. Not long thereafter, she began arranging other people’s journeys. Prior to opening Stewart International, Christine worked as a Travel Consultant, a Meeting Planner, a Tour Escort, an airline Reservationist, an International Rate Agent, and a Travel School Instructor.

Claire Cafferty

Claire joined Stewart International in 1987. She finds that her background as a Coordinator in the Intensive Care Unit at Beth Israel Hospital stands her in good stead when confronting the many “emergencies” in travel. Claire’s favorite destination is wherever she’s been last and she’s our resident expert on airfare “specials”.

Roland Sharrillo

Roland has worked in the travel industry for over 30 years, the majority of which have been spent at Stewart International. As part owner of another agency, he experienced all aspects of the business including chartering aircraft and organizing conventions. He has also worked as a Management Consultant and as a Photographer. His favorite countries are Italy and Germany; and he speaks Italian and German as well as French.

Nigina Akhunova

A native of Ufa, Russia, Nigina holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the State University of Engineering and Economics in Saint Petersburg. Upon graduation, she worked for 5 years as a Corporate Travel Agent in Moscow. She then moved to Italy where she lived and worked in Naples before moving to the United States. She speaks Italian as well as Russian and English. Her favorite country, so far, is Thailand.
